Usecase Albeda

Albeda is a ROC (regional educational centre) from Rotterdam with more than 20,000 students. Due to the versatile offer with 120 different courses and a wide range of short-term courses, they are one of the most important learning institutes in the Rotterdam region.

Challenge

Albeda uses different source systems in their current data architecture. The most important ones are Eduarte for student data, Exact for financial data and AFAS for human resources. The data architecture of Albeda is set up in a classical way, which means that it is currently not possible to combine data from the different source systems. As a result, Albeda cannot get the insights and analyzes they want.

Process

To come up with at an advice for a future proof data architecture, Datacation's data engineers had some discussions with the board and various end users within Albeda internally. In addition, interviews were held with a number of other ROCs to find out how they have set up their data infrastructure. In this way, an architecture can be advised that meets all the wishes of the end users within Albeda.

Solution

After combining the input from various stakeholders with our technical knowledge, we came up with an advice for a new data architecture. This new architecture is future-proof, scalable, functional, secure and technically substantiated. This ensures that Albeda can start making analyzes in which different source systems are combined in a very efficient way and also makes it possible to use AI & ML in the future.
